ORiGiN™ Recordings releases first international artist with the release of MOBY’S new album ‘ALWAYS CENTERED AT NIGHT’ out today!
Having reactivated the ORiGiN™ Recordings label with a range of new and back catalogue Australian artists and releases, ORiGiN™ now welcomes the first international artist to its label roster.
Today, 14 June 2024, musician and activist Moby releases his 22nd studio album ‘always centered at night’. Even by Moby’s standards ‘always centered at night’ is a bit special. It features 13 collaborations in all, from names you might recognise to others you undoubtedly will come to recognise including Lady Blackbird, serpentwithfeet, Benjamin Zephaniah, Gaidaa, J.P. Bimeni, and Aynzli Jones. Moby saw this project as a similar service to the idiosyncratic New York record shops that he frequented in the late 1980s, where he’d hear something recondite and exciting and it would open up whole new worlds. ‘always centered at night’ was his way of working with special writers and vocalists to make songs inspired by the spirit of musical discovery.
Moby will embark on his first tour in over a decade later this year across Europe/UK in celebration of Play. The album, which featured classics “Porcelain,” “Natural Blues” and “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?”, sold over 12 million copies worldwide, winning numerous awards and becoming the biggest-selling electronic album of all time. 100% of his tour profits will go to European animal rights organisations.
2024 stands to be another big year for Moby where past endeavours and innovative future music coalesce, still pioneering, with activism at the forefront of everything he does. MOBY Comments are closed.
