Milou Moon is the Naarm-based psych rock/dream pop project of French-American artist Emily McGill.
Milou Moon’s unique brand of neo-psychedelia weaves ethereal vocal melodies, driving grooves, and lush instrumental textures to create sonic dreamscapes. Milou Moon’s debut EP ‘Trails to Centre’ – released March 2024 – was produced & mixed by Sean Kenihan (Northeast Party House, SHOUSE) and mastered by Joe Carra (King Gizzard, POND).
Off the back of a tour with good mate Harmony Byrne and a string of US and Australian shows, Milou Moon is dropping a new single, ‘Circles’ on October 18, with a Naarm single launch show on October 19 at Shotkickers featuring support from Birdnsnake and darby. Milou Moon’s live band in Aus comprises Sam O’Neil (Sunnyside), George De Silva (Kerfew, De Silva), and Jevaan Waldron. ‘Circles’ is a swirling sonic dreamscape depicting a mind trapped in indecision, running in circles. The track was recorded in a live take and captures an exciting live feel in its pulsing, driving psychedelic energy. Em wrote Circles about the internal struggle between being in her chosen home, Naarm, where she’s lived for 8 years, and being in Chicago with the rest of her family and longtime community. It aims to capture the swirling, cyclical ups and downs of living abroad and the infinite micro-decisions you’re constantly making in the process. The track was composed and produced by Emily McGill at the helm of the project. It was mixed by Dylan Rogers (Warbaby, Big Twisty and the Funknasty) and mastered by Joe Carra (King Gizzard, POND).
