It’s a soundtrack to a movie waiting to be made. Themes like a good idea. Put a seriously talented bunch of musicians in a studio and start jamming. Try this. Try that. Go this way, go that way. Cut and dice the jams into various shapes and shades. Add some spicy bits and bobs. Mix, master and voila! This is how music maestro Eddie Rayner orchestrated the whole shebang along with ... Mark Dennison – Reeds, flute, sax’s Adrian Stucky – Guitars Patrick Kuhtze – Drums, percussion AKA Double Life. The initial jams were done over a series of days in the Auckland studio with Eddie, Mark, Adrian and Pat just trying out a few ideas – extended jam sessions. Eddie then did some judicious editing and embellishments. The players got together again to add more layers and textures to the works. More editing, mixing and finally mastering all seventeen works. Then what ? Several of the works created by Double Life have already had a ‘double life’. Soon after the initial jams were created Eddie shared them with good friend and long-time Split Enz colleague Tim Finn. Tim & Eddie then created new songs with some of the tunes and released them via their Forenzics album Shades and Echoes. “Lost In Paradise” AKA “Empty Nest” “Subterfuge” AKA “I Spy” “Anxiety” AKA “Europe Speaks” “Apartment” AKA “System Overload” “The Blimp” AKA “Unlikely Friend” “Collusion” AKA “Premiere Fois” Cat’s out of the bag now. Chances are Double Life has nine lives. Individually and collectively these diverse and engaging musical works will find new ways to grow above and below us. In the cloud, underground and all around. 1st Single: “That’s It!” released August 30th 2nd Single: “Man From Aunty” releasing September 27th ALBUM: Eddie Rayner presents DOUBLE LIFE – release date October 25th Check out the smooth video for “That’s It!” Comments are closed.
